Sworn in and ready to work!

District Judge Jay Weatherby issued me the oath of office on January first.  My first official meeting is Tuesday, January 4, 2011.  I’m looking forward to working with the commissioner’s court, county elected officials, employees and the people of Tom Green County!

I’ll always remember that you elected me; and I take that trust and confidence as a sacred trust; I’ll never forget that I’m just a public servant, bound by an oath of office to do your will to the best of my ability……

We need Commissioners who listen, are leaders & team players and can get things done; Leaders who put you first. I’ll be that Commissioner for you.

ELECTED to three terms on the Christoval ISD Board of Trustees

ELECTED to represent Tom Green County in four consecutive Texas Republican Party Conventions

ELECTED to the 2008 REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION as Delegate No.1 representing the 36 counties in Texas 11th Congressional District.

Safe Neighborhoods
Tom Green County Commissioners budget your tax dollars for the criminal justice system including the County and District Judges and their Courts, the County & District Attorneys, the probation department, the jail and the Sheriff’s department.  Commissioners need to ensure that the professionals who operate the justice system have the resources necessary to keep the public safe.

Good Roads
Tom Green County Commissioners oversee roads accepted by the court as part of the County road inventory.  Not all rural roads are maintained by the County. Commissioners have the difficult job of maintaining roads and bridges with the same funding formula that existed in the 1970′s.  County roads should be maintained for public safety and first responder access.

Low Taxes
The current Tom Green County Commissioner’s Court has done a good job of holding the line on spending and stretching our tax dollars a long way.  Commissioners along with city council members and school board trustees face the same types of unfunded mandates from the state and federal government.  Forced local spending, whether from Washington or Austin, gives local governments no option but to provide mandated services without money to fund them.  We must constantly work together to tell the federal and state governments in no uncertain terms that local governments and taxpayers need relief from over spending, regulation and taxation.
